Alma Willis Obituary

On Nov 20, 2020 you may have heard a hustle & bustle as Alma Lon Willis 61, ascended into heaven butt naked and barefoot just like he liked it. It has not been determined if he died of sheer stubbornness, but friends and family believe his continual lack of clothing played a contributing factor. He was born to Lloyd & Mildred Willis on Oct 5, 1959 in the Mcnary General Hospital. He attended Snowflake High School where he met the love of his life Suzette Stambaugh. The young lovers tied the knot on Dec 14, 1978, the pair had three children. They lived here and sometimes there and… (have you ever tried to get a straight answer out of him?)

Besides constantly being confused for a Hispanic woman because as he said (my mother just had to name me Alma), Lon, Lonnie, Lon Swan, Phil, Yoshi, Barnum even Lazarus, the list goes on and on he has been known by many names. Lon had a passion and understanding for real estate. He spent his professional career appraising most of the state of Arizona. He was a great lover of sports, and many youths had him his as a coach. He had a natural talent for leading you men and was extremely passionate about providing for them what he never had. He was a dedicated scout leader and pushed each to earn their eagle. If you look around Reed S. Hatch Memorial Cemetery you will see many of these.

Lon loved food smothered in sauce – the more the better & bring extra just in case. and who doesn’t like cake for breakfast. He had an eye for beautiful women, candy filling both hands, and some secret recipe and not necessarily in that order. He believed you should vote, stand up for what you believe in, live your life with no regrets, and impressed upon all who knew him that shorts and flip flips should be worn year round. Winter was always almost over, and summer was just around the corner.

Lon was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd & Mildred Willis, His older brother Lloyd Reeves Willis, and many family and friends. He is survived by his wife Suzette Willis & their children Bridgett & the (Scottish scoundrels); Lj & Nicki (Cameron & Olivia) and Melissa & Aaron (Garin & Ashlynn). As well as his siblings Amy Willis, John & Ronda Willis, Vernal & Kathy Willis (Dustin, Theresa, Corey & their families), Susan & Ben Carpenter (Kerri, Ben & his family). A viewing will be held at Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor Friday evening 11/27/20 from 6pm – 8pm. And A graveside will be held in his honor at the Reed S. Hatch Memorial Cemetery on Saturday 11/28/2020 at 3pm.  All are welcomed, we ask that you honor him by wearing your most comfortable shorts & flip flops. Of course, a good baseball hat and a pair of sunglasses never hurt either. A heart felt thank you from our family to yours, for all the kind words, gestures, love & support. Thank you.
