Ann Marie McArthur

Ann Marie Fishback McArthur, 66, passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2025, at her home in Overgaard, Arizona.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 22, 1958, Ann Marie moved to Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, in 1970 and later made Arizona her home. She graduated as Valedictorian from Wilmot Union High School in 1976 and went on to dedicate her career to helping others, serving as the Executive Director of About Care, a non-profit organization that provided vital support to elders in need.

Ann Marie loved getting lost in a book and was a remarkably fast reader. She could finish a book as thick as the Bible in just a few hours. She had a knack for remembering facts and was fiercely competitive, whether playing trivia at a bar in between games of pool with Dustin, or shouting out answers during Jeopardy at home. She also had a deep love for cooking and baking. Every year, without fail, she made sure her kids had fresh-baked cookies waiting for them when they arrived home from their first day of school. And despite her allergies (and the ever-present wad of tissues tucked into every jacket pocket or purse), she cherished the outdoors and Arizona’s stunning scenery. But above all, she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Patricia Fishback, and her brothers, Jerome P. Fishback, Joseph Fishback, Dennis Fishback, and Lawrence Fishback.

Ann Marie is survived by her siblings, James (Polly) Fishback, Michael (Joan) Fishback, Stephen (Karen) Fishback, and Mary Kay (James) Schmidt; her children, Colleen Toshner, Breanne Toshner (Tony Belleau), and Dustin Toshner; and her cherished grandchildren, Cormac and Callum Toshner.

A funeral mass for Ann Marie will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11:30am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 230 W. Galveston St. Chandler, AZ.
