Avonia Cosay

Avonia Cosay entered into the gates of Heaven on July 31, 2022 at Summit Health Care in Showlow, Az. Surrounded by family and friends.  Avonia was born on March 18, 1959 to the late Taft Cosay and Lucia Chino Nosie.

She graduated from Alchesay High School in 1977.

She was a devoted member of the Canyon Day Assembly of God Church since her teenage years, a faithful servant of God.  She enjoyed cleaning the church, making sure everything is in order before services were done.  She was a member of the Women’s Ministry and the Pillars Group.  She loved to participate in all church activities, such as a helper during the Food Bank, helping with Children’s Church or just being there in the House of God.

When she is not at church she would be out in the community helping at wakes, dinners, etc.  by making bread.  She loved to be around people, she had many friends, far and near, and many pen pals that she receives mail from.  She also received the small pamphlets “Daily Bread” that she distributed among the community, she made sure everyone received one, that was her way of ministering and fellowshipping.

She also loved to collect pens and bags.  When she had passed, we came to find out that she had about 1,000 pens and about 200 different bags that her friends brought back for her when they took trips to various places.  Most of all, she liked Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  Her favorite rock singer that she listen to was Michael Jackson, kee Avonia.

Avonia is survived by one sister, Letha Cosay, and (2) brothers, Raymus Chino and J.D., Lucelia Nosie

Many nieces, nephews and grandchildrens that she loved and will dearly be missed by them all.

Avonia Cosay was brought back to her home in Canyon Day on Aug. 11, 2022 @ 10pm and her funeral service was on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 @ 1pm, Canyon Day Assembly of God Church.  Interment at Canyon Day Graveyard.
