Beth Jeanine Musselman, 71, of Alpine, Arizona, formerly of Leeds, Iowa passed away on August 13, 2023, in Pinetop/Lakeside, Arizona.
Beth was born on March 17, 1952, to Duane and Estelle (Deedrick) Musselman, the middle of 3 children.
She attended Hawthorne Elementary School and Leeds High School. Beth was active in the Choir, Theater and loved singing in a quintet with sister Diana and Cousins Charlene, Wendy, and Vickie. She graduated in 1970 and attended Dana College in Blair, Nebraska.
In 1976 Beth moved to Luna, New Mexico and soon after settled into her cottage in Freeborn Canyon on the Blue River in Apache-Sit greaves National Forest. Those first years were challenging, living in a tent while building a one room cabin with no electricity or indoor plumbing and a fireplace for heat. She carried water from the creek and cooked on a wood cook stove.
She had a long career with the United States Forest Service, starting as a fire fighter and spent many hours on fire watch in various mountain top towers. She managed and maintained campgrounds in the forest and eventually moved to the forest service office in Alpine, Arizona where she was a manager and the contracting specialist. She retired in 2016 after 36 years.
Beth loved her little piece of her beloved White Mountains. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and gardening many different beautiful flowers and vegetables. Beth especially loved cooking for and spending time with friends.
She was a member of the Blue River Cowbelles and volunteered at the Blue River Library.
Beth was preceded in death by her father Duane and her mother Estelle.
She is survived by her sister Diana of Sioux City, Iowa and her brother Mark (Cheryl) Musselman of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 3 Nephews; 3 Nieces many great nieces and nephews; and great-great nephews.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Sunday, October 29 at 1 PM at the Blue School. Another will be held in Sioux City, Iowa at a later Date.
