Catherine Elizabeth Johnson, lovingly known as Cathy, passed away on May 27, 2026, in Lakeside, Arizona, at the age of 83. She was born on July 29, 1942, in the Borough of Queens, New York, and lived a life marked by creativity, spirit, and deep love for her family and friends.

Cathy was the beloved wife of John Johnson Sr. and a cherished mother to John Johnson Jr. She was also a treasured sister to Jessie Wernett and Sue Ellis, and a loving mother-in-law to Dee Johnson. Her family was one of her greatest joys, and she was so proud of her granddaughters, Amber Howard and Nikki Rose, as well as in her many great-grandchildren and extended family members.

She attended high school at Paradise Valley High and built a hardworking life through dedication and perseverance. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Cathy served as a manager at Whipples fashion store, where her leadership and sense of style were well remembered. She later worked at Wal-Mart until her retirement, where she continued to show the same dependable work ethic and friendly spirit that defined her throughout her life. Cathy took pride in doing her work well and in treating others with kindness and respect.

Cathy was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed baking, and her kitchen was often a place where love was shared through homemade treats and comforting recipes. She also enjoyed making beaded earrings, a craft that reflected her creative nature and her eye for beauty in the simple things.
