Clovis was born in Seagraves Texas on December 6th, 1935 to Marion and Effie Sturgeon. Clovis grew up living between Seymour, Texas and Miami, Arizona.
Clovis joined the Marine Corps on February 26th, 1954. He served in Japan and was proud to serve his country. Shortly after discharge, Clovis met Judy Farrow and the two were married 2 short weeks later. They remained married for 61 years, until Judy passed in 2019.
Clovis went to work for Arizona Game and Fish Department in1962, where he served for 36 years. They raised their family at isolated fish hatcheries in the Rim Country of Arizona; first at Tonto Creek and then Canyon Creek. Following their tenure at Canyon Creek, they moved to Silver Creek Hatchery in the White Mountains of Arizona where he retired and moved to Snowflake, AZ. After retirement, Clovis and Judy started C&J Tack. Leather work and saddlery was a tradition passed down from Judy's father. They were both proud to be sponsors of local gymkanas, FFA, and rodeo clubs.
Clovis Sturgeon was called home on December 30th, 2024. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Judy Sturgeon; his son, James Sturgeon; daughter-in-law, Ramona Sturgeon; and grandson, Brandon Sturgeon; as well as 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Clovis is survived by two children, Virgina Lindsey and William Sturgeon, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 6 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters.
