David Brouwer Hausmann went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2025 in Overgaard, AZ. He was born on May 17, 1935 in Salt Lake City, UT to parents Alfred Paul Hausmann and Marie Adriana Teerlink. He spent his childhood growing up in Springville, UT, went to college and graduated from BYU in Provo, UT. He married Vinny Nanni on August 26, 1962 in Yonkers, NY. They spent 30 years together and then Vinny passed away on November 21, 1992.
He proudly served his country in the National Guard in Utah.
David received training to get his private airplane license and his instructor license in 1956. In 1956 he flew for Capital Airlines. In 1963 he started flying for Hughes Air which merged several times to Hughes Airwest, Republic Airlines, Northwest, and finally to it’s current name, Delta. While under Delta, he mostly flew the Asian routes in a 747 airplane. David also spent time flying for the forest service is Yellowstone, WY.
David’s hobbies included flying, woodworking, shooting and hunting. He built 2 homes and also loved working on and collecting cars. You could say that no grass could grow under his feet because he was always busy. He spoke and read several languages including Hebrew, German, Spanish, and Italian.
David later met Valorie Johnson and they were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple on March 2, 1996.
David was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved working and attending church. He and his wife Valorie served a 6 month mission in Palmyra, New York. He also had many callings serving as ward clerk, High Priest group leader, and teaching Sunday school.
David is survived by his wife Valorie Hausmann, his children Kurt B Hausmann, Christina Smith, Kraig D Hausmann, Kathryn Hagen, Jared D Hausmann, Joel A Hausmann, Miriam Lunday and his step children Royce W Gibbons, Bryan G Gibbons, Codie Tiffin, and Darin D Gibbons.
David was preceded in death by his wife Vinny M. Nanni, brother Moroni Miner, sister Lucille Miner, and a grandchild Riggs Gibbons.
The funeral services will be held on Thursday February 13, 2025 at 1pm, with a viewing at 12pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Heber-Overgaard, AZ. There will be a burial on Friday February 14, 2025 at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery located at 10940 E Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248.
