We gather in solemn joy to celebrate the homecoming of a precious child of God and Ya, Mom, Deborah Ann Cemel, Anjelica. Born on the tenth day of December in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and sixty-one, in the sun-kissed city of Phoenix, Arizona, Mom was a beacon of love and grace throughout her blessed sixty-two years of life on this earthly plane. Mom, a devoted wife to Adrian, was a true partner in every sense of the word. Their union was a testament to the enduring power of love and mutual respect. She walked through this world with a heart full of compassion, touching lives with her kindness and leaving a legacy of warmth and generosity that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. On the fifteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord, two thousand and twenty-four, in the peaceful town of Eagar, Arizona, our dear Mom was called to her eternal rest. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:1, "For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a home, the Apostle Paul, reminds us that Mom has now taken residence in her heavenly home, prepared for her by Lord Almighty. Let us hold fast to the cherished memories of Mom, a woman of deep faith, both in God and Ya, a pillar of her community, and a shining example of the love that dwells within us all. Amen. A paraphrased excerpt from Mitch Alboms' The Stranger in the Lifeboat: "When someone passes, people always ask, "Why did God take them?" "A better question would be, why did God give them to us? What did we do to deserve their love, their joy, the sweet 1 / 2 moments we shared?" This was hard, Ma. Took me a while. We'll be ok.
