Dora Emma Gonzalez was called home to be with her savior on December 12, 2023. She was born to Procopio Juarez Gonzales and Jovita Marquez Gonzales on September 19, 1956, in McNary, Arizona.
She grew up in Snowflake, Arizona and graduated from Snowflake Union High School. Dora received an associate degree from Northland Pioneer College in early childhood development. She spent many years working for the Snowflake School District with students with special needs.
After leaving the school district, she spent many years as the parish receptionist at Our Lady of the Snow and sat on the parish council. Dora was a proud member of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, teaching them how to cook, sew and doing crafts.
Once retired, Dora spent many happy hours with her friends at the Snowflake Senior Center doing Tai-Chi and visiting over lunch. She also enjoyed attending Knights of Columbus dinners and banquets with her eldest son.
Dora will be greatly missed for her warm heart, devoted friendship, and brutal honesty. The family finds solace in knowing she will be joyfully reunited with her parents, brother, and beloved son, all of whom she has missed dearly.
She is survived by her sons, Procopio Rivas, Andres (Flor) Rivas, Jose (Alisha) Gonzalez, Margaret Garcia (Daniel), daughter-in-law, Amber (Jacob) Gonzalez, her brothers, Juan Gonzalez (Filomena), Guillermo (Georgia) Gonzalez, sisters, Patsy Cotney and Arminda Jaramillo, nine grandchildren, Liam, Vincente, Sebastian, Isabella, Maya, Landon, Daniel, Anabelle and Josue and many nieces and nephews.
Dora is preceded in death by her parents, Procopio and Jovita Gonzales, brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Wanda Gonzales, son, Jacob C. Gonzalez and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Our Lady of the Snow in Snowflake, Arizona, will be on December 22, 2023. Rosary begins at 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:30 a.m. Interment follows at the R.V. Mike Ramsay Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks if you would consider donating to Dora’s headstone through Silver Creek Mortuary.
