Gaylan Isaac Jones

Gaylan Isaac Jones, age 72, of Snowflake, Arizona passed away June 13th 2021 at his home in Snowflake, Arizona.

Gaylan was born March 10, 1949 in Panguitch, Utah. Gaylan spent his youth living in various towns in Southern Utah and graduated from high school in Price, Utah. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Alaska. Upon returning home he attended the College of Eastern Utah then went to BYU, where he graduated with a degree in Psychology. While in college he met his wife, Judy, whom he was married to for 49 years. After graduation he moved the family to Snowflake, AZ where he spent the next 42 as the School Psychologist for the Snowflake School district, retiring in 2018. Gaylan loved serving through his various leadership positions in the church. Most of all he loved serving in the Boy Scouts organization where over the course of 40 years, he impacted the lives of countless youth in the community. 

Gaylan enjoyed camping and especially hiking, which he did everywhere he traveled, being able to see many natural wonders throughout the country.  He especially enjoyed hiking Rim to Rim of the Grand Canyon a few years ago with his oldest grandson. Gaylan loved to travel with his family. In their younger years the family would travel across the Western United States over their summer vacations camping along the way. As the family grew older he loved to share his timeshare with the family on vacations.

He loved the holiday seasons where his grandkids would come to his house and prepare goodies for dozens of people in the community, as well as decorating his home for Christmas. Gaylan touched the lives of all he came in contact with; his genuine love for all will be deeply missed. 

Gaylan is survived by his wife Judy, their sons Isaac (Farrlene), Chris (Candace), Jeff, and John (Misty). Among the family they now have 14 grandkids and 2 great grandkids. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday June 21st at 10:00 AM at the Centennial Stake Center. Burial will follow in the Snowflake Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Sunday June 20th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor Arizona and again on Monday June 21st from 9:00 – 9:45 immediately preceding the funeral. 

The family is very grateful for all of the prayers, messages, food, and love that has been shared over the last week.
