Ivin Crone Lee, 90, of Joseph City, AZ, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Snowflake, AZ. He was born in Lakeside, AZ on July 24, 1933, to Arthur and Leah Lee, and was the 4th of 10 children.
He was a graduate of Snowflake High School. He served in the Navy on the USS Philippine Sea (CVS-47) during the Korean Conflict, 1955-1957. He has always been proud to still fit into and wear his Navy uniform.
He served a mission for the LDS Church Northwestern States Mission for 2 years. Upon returning home, he started working at a power plant in McNary. He transferred to the Cholla Power Plant in Joseph City in 1963 where he retired as a Machinist in 1993 after 30 years.
He met and married LaPrill Turley in 1966 and raised 3 children: Berneil, Kyra, and Bo.
He was mechanically gifted and known as the local repairman. He could fix almost anything from refrigerators to tractors. He ran the Cattle Rest in Joseph City for a dozen or so years before it closed down. He also drove the mail truck from Holbrook to Flagstaff for several years.
Ivin helped his son, Bo, build and weld the wrought-iron “Welcome to Joseph City” sign on the West entrance to town for Bo’s Eagle Scout Project.
Ivin enjoyed anything to do with cows and horses and did 2 treks on horseback from Lee’s Ferry to Winslow. He loved the annual cattle round-ups with the Hansens!
Ivin also loved blowing up the anvil on the 4th of July and 24th of March celebrations early in the morning all over town!
He is survived by his wife, LaPrill; daughter, Kyra Mosier and son-in-law, Darrel Mosier; son, Bo Lee, and daughter-in-law, Kay Lee ; and 7 grandchildren: Lance, Shannon, and Max Mosier; and, Meghan, EJ, Kimber, and Maddox Lee. And, his sister, Pauline Brewer, and brother, Ted Lee.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Joseph City Cemetery.
