John Mack Gibson, “Hoot”, 83, passed away October 9, 2021, at his home in Taylor, Az. Born on December 21, 1937, in Miami, Arizona, John was the son of J.A. and Idell Mack Gibson. He was the 3rd of six children. He attended school in Eagar, Arizona, and loved being a Round Valley Elk. He was a multi-sport athlete and at one time proudly held a school record in track and field. This is where he met and married his sweetheart Dixie Eagar. They were married for 63 years. In 1962 they moved to Snowflake where they raised their family. He kept busy with Scouts, Little League, serving in the church, and family. After their family was raised, they moved to Polacca on the Hopi reservation. He loved the Hopi people and made many good friends there. After 22 years they moved back to Taylor and settled in to enjoy time with their family. He is survived by his wife, Dixie, children, Rick (Lisa), Kerry (Norman), Roni (Ken), Sandi (Dave), and Jason (Tammy), 20 grandkids, 59 ½ great-grandkids, and 1 ½ great-great grandkids. He is also survived by two sisters, Marsha Lupo and Nada Sullivan.
His services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Love Lake Chapel in Taylor, Arizona on Saturday, October 16, 2021. The visitation is at 9 a.m. and the funeral at 10 a.m. The interment will follow at the Eagar Cemetery in Eagar, Arizona.
