Karen Kay Hawk passed away January 7th, 2023, at her residence in Pinetop, Arizona. Karen was born to Carl C. and Laurine M. Hawk of Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 9th, 1944. She moved from Fort Wayne to Tucson, Arizona in 1969, and was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital where she held many positions within the nursing field. She loved the outdoors and her beloved transplanted state of Arizona, and could be found camping, fishing, and exploring all the state had to offer. She put many miles on her vans as she also enjoyed, in her earlier years, traveling The United States visiting family and friends with her mother and father. After retirement from St. Mary’s, she longed to get out of the hustle and bustle of Tucson and relocate to The White Mountains and Pinetop where she continued to fish and enjoy her log home as well as her dogs.
Karen is survived by her sister, Marsha Ann Young, Brother-in-law, Robert Young, nephews; Mark, Robert and Ryan Young, great-nephews; Matthew, Mitchell and Madison of North Carolina, and Riley and Bryce Young of California. She is also survived by several distant cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl, and Laurine Hawk. Karen’s final resting place will be at The Holy Hope Catholic Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
A prayer service will be held for Karen on Friday January 13th at 12:00 noon at the Silver Creek Mortuary in Pinetop Arizona. The address is 440 E. White Mountain Blvd. Pinetop, Arizona 85935.
