Katherine Faye (Cherry) Ellis

Katherine (Kathy) Faye Cherry-Ellis passed peacefully, at home, on December 9, 2025, surrounded by family.

Kathy was born February 28, 1946, to Ruby Dell (Gibbs) and Marlin Cherry in Oakland, CA. She then moved to Albuquerque, NM, where she spent her life until she moved to Santa Fe where she attended and graduated from the Santa Fe School for the Deaf. On May 30, 1965, she graduated and married Pete Ellis. They then moved to Canada for work.

Kathy and Pete eventually ended up in Texas, where they started a family. They were blessed with 6 children. After staying in Texas for 30 years, they moved to Snowflake, AZ, where they spent the rest of their time.

While in Snowflake, Kathy worked as a Certified Interpreter for the deaf. She spent her time working with the students at the Arizona School for the Deaf for 17 years. She also served as an interpreter in the LDS Snowflake Temple.

She is survived by Pete, her husband of 60 years, 5 children, Marcus (Shelley), Lance (Cristy), Jason (Beth), Amanda, Karen (Eric) Watson, 10 grandchildren, one sister, and two brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest son Curtis, and 2 grandchildren.

She leaves behind her family and good friends, many belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11 am. It will be at the Snowflake Pioneer Chapel for those who wish to attend.
