Kenneth Davis Obituary

Kenneth Ward Davis, age 96, passed away peacefully on 11 May 2025 in Clay Springs, AZ. Born on 1 February 1929 in Clay Springs, he is the beloved son of Jesse Oliver Davis and Melissa Alice Perkins. He has nine siblings-John, Alice, Betty (Yarbrough), Bessie (Bowler), Ruby (Spear), Russell, Charles, Richard, and Jeanette (Malone).

He married Ella Hope Crandell on June 5th, 1948. Together, they raised 6 children, Juanita (Boers), Sharon (Brewer), Cole, Shaun, Ashley, and Melissa (Lambdin). They are blessed with 36 grandchildren, 89 great grandchildren and 32 great-great grandchildren.

Kenneth began working early in his life at sawmills and in the log woods. He also worked as lead man in the woodyard at the Snowflake pulp mill. Later he was a self-employed pulp wood contractor and then he was an end-dump truck and concrete mixer driver. He was known for how well he took care of his equipment.

He loved to be in the forest and was an avid hunter. He was a talented musician, playing rhythm and lead guitar for local dances for years. He had a beautiful tenor voice and many evenings found him and Hope playing music. He loved prospecting and in his younger years was an athlete. He climbed down the guy wires at Deer Springs lookout tower hand over hand without gloves! He loved to memorize and recite poetry. Two of his favorites are “The Old Prospector” and “Trapper Bill.”

He loved God and Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A highlight in his church service was when he and Hope served a mission at Martin’s Cove in Wyoming where he was able to meet with many youth groups and share his poetry and testimony with them.

Memorial services for Kenneth will be held Friday, May 16, at 11am, with a viewing at 10am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5150 AZ-260, between Pinedale and Clay Springs.

He was known for his impeccable honesty and for his kind and gentle heart. His legacy will live forever in our hearts.
