Lee A. Mertesdorf (Bear), age 75, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at
Flagstaff Medical Center in Flagstaff, Arizona. He was born on August 2, 1947, to
parents Aloys P. Mertesdorf and Frances A. (Goodell) Mertesdorf. He was a 1966.
Graduate of Minneapolis South West High School. He enter into the U.S. Army on
11/05/1966. He was honorably discharged on 11/04/1968. He married Linda M.
(Hintz) Mertesdorf on August 16, 1986. He worked as a Sheriff Deputy for 14
years. He also had a passion for cars and worked as an auto mechanic on and off
throughout his life. He owned and operated B&L Diesel Automotive for 4 years.
Bear truly lived life to the fullest with simple pleasures like chatting with family
and friends, hunting, fishing and building relationships abroad using his Ham
Radio with call sign WODGE. He is survived by his wife Linda, son Brian, Daughter
Christine, grandchildren Tyler, Mason, Jordan and Jacey, as well as many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his brother Michael John, mother Frances Goodell,
father Aloys Mertesdorf, and stepmother Mercedes Mertesdorf. Family and
friends are invited to his Celebration of Life at Silver Creek Mortuary, 745 Paper
Mill Rd, Taylor, AZ 85939 on Friday, July 07, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., to reminisce, grieve,
support each other and just chat. There will be a lunch to follow at The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 48 Main Street, Snowflake, AZ 85937.
