On May 23, 2024, Mary Jean Caldwell passed away peacefully. She was 89. Mary Jean was born Mary Jean Walker on December 3, 1934, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to Calvin and Mary Lucille Walker. Mary Jean had a long and successful life full of family, faith, and service. Mary Jean married Allen Lemoyne Caldwell on September 23, 1957. They had been married 58 years when Lemoyne passed away on October 7, 2015. Both were life-long members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mary Jean and Lemoyne were blessed with 10 children, 46 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. In 1969, Mary Jean and Lemoyne moved to Snowflake, AZ, where Lemoyne became a partner in Snowflake Pig Farms. The farm was quite a success. Mary Jean and Lemoyne knew the value of hard work, and passed this onto their children. The Caldwells enjoyed long road trips – often with no extensive planning. They often included as many family members and friends as possible on these adventures, including summers at Lake Powell on their houseboat, “Boss Hog.” After retirement Mary Jean and Lemoyne served a two year mission for the LDS church in the Johannesburg, South Africa Mission. It was a fulfilling and meaningful mission. They were greeted with much love and enthusiasm by their blossoming family on their return home. Mary Jean was an expert in Genealogy. Mary Jean was generous with her knowledge and research, often giving friends and extended family valuable insight to their family histories. Mary Jean was also generous with people who need a helping hand. She was quick to volunteer a meal, a ride, or a place to stay. She loved to share her talents with others, such as sewing prom dresses for friends. Mary Jean also made beautiful wedding dresses for her daughters. She passed the art of sewing onto anyone who wanted to learn. Mary Jean had a wide variety of friends: from church, from her neighbors to her relatives. Whether it was at a family reunion or just a visit at home, Mary Jean was a welcome presence. Now that she has reunited with Lemoyne, they are both welcomed memories for those who loved them. Mary Jean is survived by her ten children and their spouses; Mike (Tina) Caldwell, Keith (Marie) Caldwell, Susan (Mark) Lee, Valerie Hunt, Brian (Kristi) Caldwell, Jennefer (Roger) Dayton, Cathe (Craig) Williams, Paul (Brenna) Caldwell, Matthew (deceased), Aaron (Mindy) Caldwell and Holly (Nate) Shaw, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, by her brothers; Jerry, Kent (Jill), and Glen (Marilyn), and her sister Nancy. Funeral services will be held on June 8, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Snowflake Main Street Chapel. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. A separate viewing will be held Friday, June 8, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Main Street Church Relief Society room. If you would like to join us by Zoom: Meeting ID: 818 5437 2462
