Michael John VanWinkle passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at his home in Snowflake, Arizona. Mike was born October 30, 1960 in Globe, Arizona to Stanley “Rip” and Betty VanWinkle. He grew up in Globe until he was 14 years old, when the family moved to Snowflake. He was very active in sports and was a good athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball. He started and played varsity baseball for the Lobos as a Freshman. He began work early in his life, working first in the oil fields. He was very talented in woodworking and worked construction for much of his life. Mike was a friend to all and would help people in many situations.
He is survived by his son CJ; Grandchildren: Alisha, Brendon, Cameron, Michael, Walker, and Great-grandchildren: Ryder, Ryker, and Reevy May; his two brothers Ken (Roni) and Jerry (Bev); and by his sister Lori (David) Fawcett; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
