Minor Kinney passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 4, 2025, in Fort Apache, Arizona. He was born to Chester and Eva Kinney on September 6, 1934 in Fort Apache, Arizona.
Minor lived as a rancher in his early life in St. Johns, Arizona. While in the Army, he resided in Fort Richardson (Anchorage, Alaska) and Fort Lewis (Tacoma, Washington). He served from August 20, 1957, to August 10, 1959. Upon completing his military assignment, he moved to Oakland, California, before returning to Whiteriver, Arizona. He enjoyed working in finance and retail. He also enjoyed reading, learning, and landscaping.
Minor is survived by his sons, Duane Kinney Sr., and Darren Kinney, Sr.; two daughters, Norma Kinney and Dianoma Kinney; brother, Alvin Kinney, nineteen grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Eva Kinney; his wife, Evelyn Kinney; daughters, Priscilla Kenney and Artina Kinney; brothers, Howard Kinney, Andrew Kinney, Robert Kinney, Brimson Kenney; sisters, Annie Kinney Behlen and Vine Kinney Ethelbah.
The wake is Monday, July 14, 2025, at 10 am at 2705 Roadrunner St. on Fort Apache, Arizona. The funeral will be Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 9 am at 1421 Fort Apache Road and interment is at Cedar Shade Cemetery in Whiteriver, Arizona.
