It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of ‘Moe” Dudley Joy Ashcroft Jr., who left this world on January 15, 2026, at the age of 80, after a brave battle with cancer. Born on March 8, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Moe was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a steadfast friend to many.
Moe was the beloved son of Dudley Joy Ashcroft Sr. and Lola Whiting. He spent his early years surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Oregon, where he developed a love for the great outdoors. His adventurous spirit led him to pursue hunting hobbies that he cherished throughout his life.
On November 23, 1993, Moe married the love of his life, Gale Russell, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, lasting for an incredible 32 years. Together, they built a loving family and created countless memories that will be treasured forever.
Moe was a dedicated family man, and his legacy continues through his children. He is survived by Gale Ashcroft, his wife; his sister: LaKay Ashcroft; and his sons, Tim and Tobey Ashcroft, and his daughters Kamala Gagnon and Krisann Davis. And Step Children: Linnea LeBaron, Holly Dransfield, Russell Weight, Alyssa Minson, and Stephen Weight. as well as the proud grandfather of 31 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Moe dedicated 32 years of his life as a temple worker, serving his church with devotion and love.
Professionally, Moe worked as an Airplane fueling and maintenance worker. He took pride in his work and was respected by his colleagues for his expertise and commitment.
Moe was preceded in death by his brother, Lynn Ashcroft.
On January 23, 2026, a funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 309 West Willow Ln in Taylor, Arizona at 2:00 PM, with a viewing at 1:00pm. allowing family and friends to gather, share stories, and celebrate Moe’s remarkable life.
Moe’s humor, laughter and love will be greatly missed. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we are grateful for the time we had with him, and we find solace in knowing that through the atonement of Jesus Christ we will all be together again.
