Norris Baldwin Obituary

Norris Alvin Baldwin, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born March 21, 1938, in Taylor, Arizona—the town he loved and served throughout his life.

Norris lived a life centered on faith, family, and service. He married the love of his life, Fawnette Black Baldwin, and together they built a strong and devoted family. He was the proud father of Fawne Baldwin Jones (Rob), Michelle Baldwin Reidhead (John), Claire Baldwin Romero (Armando), Kristi Baldwin Olson (Randy), Tanya Baldwin Adams (Jaren), Rachel Baldwin Platt (Cyrus), Sharee Baldwin Sanderson (Franklin), and Alma Ortiz Romney (Haven), and was preceded in death by his son Norris Alvin Baldwin Jr. (Ruthann). He was also preceded in death by his parents, Perry Alvin Baldwin and Jessie Shumway Baldwin.

Dad loved his family deeply and was happiest when surrounded by them. He was blessed with 42 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy. Many memories were made watching games at the ball fields, cheering on the Snowflake Lobos, and spending time together on the family farm with his cows.

As a young man, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States Mission, an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to faith and service.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and later dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He served as Mayor of Taylor and was a respected CPA, operating Norris Baldwin CPA for many years and helping countless families and businesses in the area.

Service to others was always important to him. He served as President of the Rotary Club, Chairman of the Navapache Regional Medical Center Board, and Chairman of the Silver Creek Performing Arts Board. His dedication to the Boy Scouts of America earned him the Silver Beaver Award.

His faith was the center of his life. As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in many callings including Bishop, Stake President, and Temple President. Later in life, he and Fawnette served together in humanitarian missions where they were leaders and coordinators overseeing work in seven different countries, helping organize welfare and humanitarian efforts for those in need.

Norris will be remembered for his steady leadership, his love for his family, and his quiet willingness to serve wherever he was needed. His example of faith, hard work, and devotion to others leaves a legacy that will continue through the many lives he influenced.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
