https://zoom.us/s/95304570339 Lavell Owens, age 86 of Show Low, Arizona, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren on Monday, August 12, 2024, in Show Low.  Orr Lavell Owens was born October 6, 1937, in a little house on Main Street in Show Low, Arizona.  His parents were Orr and Roxie Owens. After growing up in Show Low, and enjoying running up and down the creek, barefoot, hunting and fishing along the Show Low Creek, he met and married Lorna Tenney in 1960 and they were married and sealed in the Mesa, AZ temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Lavell taught for many years at Show Low Elementary and then became the Principal for 17 years.  He also served on the school board. He had many opportunities to serve in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving two missions. The first one in Montana and the other with his wife in Guyana, South America. He also served as a scout master and with the youth throughout his life.  He was awarded the Silver Beaver award, one of the highest awards in scouting.  He served as Bishop of two wards, High Councilman, Stake Patriarch, temple worker and temple sealer. 

Lavell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lorna, and ten children: Leanne (Dan), Kenneth (Jennifer), Russell (Andrea), Lanae (Greg), Roy (Lana), Ronald (Leslie), Kaelyn (Murlin), Karl (Jessica), Ross (Natalie), Ladell (April), and 52 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Earl Owens, Lanny Owens, Rhonda Romriell, Collins Owens and Jeannette Lewis. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Show Low Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with a viewing the evening of Friday, August 16 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Show Low Stake Center.  Interment will follow the services at the Show Low City Cemetery. Please bring your non used fishing poles and Dutch ovens for families to continue to use for their Dad. ;)
