Paula "Jeannie" Simpson Obituary

With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Paula Jeannine "Jeannie" Simpson on April 30th, 2024. Born on June 15th, 1939, in Winslow, Arizona, to Victor and Lamerle Gerwitz, Jeannie's life was one of love, adventure, and cherished memories.
She is reunited in peace with her husband, George Simpson, her brother, Sonny Gerwitz, and her dear parents.
A Celebration of Life honoring Jeannie will be held on May 18th at 11 am at the LDS Stake Center, followed by her burial at Nutrioso
Cemetery on May 19th at 1 pm.
Jeannie leaves behind a legacy of love through her three children: Jody Frost, Cary (Laurie) Simpson, and William Simpson. Her
presence will forever be felt through her 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Jeannie's childhood was filled with enchanting adventures, from an underground clubhouse to memorable trips with her parents. She
cherished moments with her father, Victor, on hunting trips to the Blue, and embraced the tranquility of fishing in the lakes and creeks of the White Mountains.
In August of 1958, Jeannie married George Doyle Simpson, and together they became integral members of the Holbrook community, sharing 59 years of unwavering devotion. Jeannie's
professional journey led her through various roles, from serving in the Forest Service offices to becoming a beloved secretary at Holbrook Schools, where she formed lifelong friendships.
A passionate quilter, Jeannie's creativity knew no bounds. Her generosity extended beyond her family as she stitched designs for countless others, spreading warmth and joy through her craft.
The 70s marked the beginning of Jeannie and George's cherished tradition of visiting Nutrioso, where they built a home surrounded by nature's beauty. Together, they reveled in watching elk,
fishing, and sharing laughter over countless games of Farkle.
Jeannie and George's love was eternal, sealed in the Snowflake Temple in 2015. Her presence will be deeply missed, from her infectious sense of humor to her acts of overwhelming
generosity. Memories of her joyful spirit, playful cartwheels, cherished grandma camps, lengthy phone calls, and visits to Nutrioso will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved
her.
