Phoebe Cromwell

Phoebe Cromwell entered eternal rest on November 19th, 2022, in Cibecue, Arizona after a short, but hard-fought battle with cancer, she went peacefully at home, with her children by her side.

Phoebe was born on January 4th, 1942, to her parents, Edith Childs, and John Chissay Sr. she was born and raised in a traditional Apache Wikiup in upper Carrizo, Arizona where she was raised by her grandmother who taught her traditional values and hard work. She attended Theodore Roosevelt Boarding School in Ft. Apache, Arizona until the 8th grade. She went on to raise a family and worked as a Community Health Representative (CHR) for 31 years. She enjoyed making cradleboards, sewing, being with family, and going to the casino.

Phoebe is survived by her daughter, Felicita Peggy Bonito; her sons, Thisday (Barbara) Chissay of Maryville, Tennessee; Quincy (Amber) Cromwell; Glenn Cromwell Jr.; Gavin Cromwell and Sister; Virginia (Ron) Christman of Alpine, California. She was preceded in death by her husband; Glenn Cromwell Sr. and her son; Johnny Chissay Sr.

There will be a Graveside service for Phoebe on Monday, November 28th, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Cibecue, Arizona, Interment to follow.
