Randy Classay Sr. Obituary

Randy Classay Sr. entered into rest on May 5, 2022 in Whiteriver, AZ. He was born on July 12, 1953 to Jere Nelson Classay and Andre (Tortice) Cosay; raised by Terry Cosay.

Randy Classay Sr. was a cowboy.  First as a bull rider, then a team roper.  You could always find him at local jackpots or the next rodeo.  As his rodeoing days came to an end, he found throwing horseshoes.  For the last several years you could find him at horseshoe tournaments.  He also loved playing basketball, coaching basketball and watching basketball.  He was the proud father of a 1993 2A state basketball champion and now proud grandfather of a 2022 3A girls state basketball champion.  We can’t forget the Dallas Cowboys.  He was a great fan of his favorite football team.  Randy supported his family from a young age.  Right out of high school he began working at the Fort Apache Timber Company.  First as a planer, then stacker, forklift driver and then a chip truck driver.  He retired along with many during his closure.  He made many acquaintances and friends throughout his lifetime.  His greatest achievement was raising his four kids and their families.  Creating a stable home for all of the kids to call grandpa’s.  He loved every one of his family members and all the kids were always welcomed.

Randy is survived by his children:  Randy (Kim) Classay Jr., Jere (Juliette) Classay, Shannon (Deon) James, Michelle Martinez and DeeDee (Michael) Woodbury; siblings:  Timmy Cosay Sr., Malinda Altaha, Clarilyn (Sherman) Keyannie and Ronna (Anastacio) Tortice and many extended families.. He was preceded in death by his spouse:  Maria Classay; fathers:  Jere Nelson Classay and Terry Cosay; mother:  Andre Tortice; brothers:  Gerald Cosay and Sonny Cosay and sisters:  Miranda Cosay and Sherry Goklish.

A one-night wake will be held on May 7th, 2022; 10:00 a.m. at 2703 Fort Apache Road in Seven-Mile, AZ with a home service to follow on Sunday, May 8th, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be at the Solid Rock Cemetery in Seven-Mile, AZ.
