River Lewis Obituary

River Jonathan Lewis entered eternal rest, surrounded by his loved ones on October 14, 2021 in Globe, AZ. He was born on March 15, 1971 to Wayne Lewis and Linda Margaret Johnson.

River was born in Whiteriver, AZ and has also lived in Queensland, Australia, Lawrence, KS and Tucson, AZ. He played tennis and ran cross country, loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers’ games and enjoyed cooking (especially desserts). He was a member of the Baptist Church. He worked at Sunrise Ski Resort as a waiter, Hondah casino as a cage cashier and at IHS in the supply department.

River is survived by sisters: Jennifer Lewis (Lawrence, KS) and Rainy Enjady (Mescalero, NM); brothers: Sonny Nachu (Whiteriver, AZ), Terrell Yazzie, Tipton Yazzie and Pogo Johnson; Nieces: Byllye Clendon, Dolli Nachu, Taixa Hiatt, Harmony Yazzie, Ariana Yazzie, Trinity Yazzie, Mateja Yazzie and Tameka Yazzie; nephews: Ace Clendon, Gabriel Yazzie, Kuhio Nachu and Gavin Yazzie; aunts: Marsha Johnson and Kathy Redbird and uncles: George Hendricks and Allen Redbird. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Winnie and Joseph Johnson and parents: Linda Johnson and Wayne Lewis.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Apache Baptist Church in Whiteriver, AZ.
