Robert Samuel Dawson Obituary

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Robert Samuel Dawson, 60, of Holbrook Arizona passed away peacefully at home with his wife and two youngest children on May 7, 2026. Robert was born on September 8, 1965, in Salt Lake City Utah to Irish emigrants John Terence Dawson and Elsie Stewart. He grew up in West Valley City, Utah. He worked hard as a lad and learned both unique household and trade skills. He loved sports, and particularly excelled in gymnastics. After high school, he proudly served a mission in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 1984-1986. After he returned, he attended Brigham Young University where he met his wife Victoria Paxton and received his BS in health science. Robert and Victoria were married August 30th, 1991 in the Washington DC temple, and went on to have eight children.

After graduating, he worked 10 years in the oil and gas industry until he went back to school to pursue his dream of becoming a healthcare provider. With the support of his wife he became certified as a Physicians Assistant in 2007 and worked 13 years at North Country Healthcare where he was beloved by his patients for his warm bedside manner and excellent, attentive care. Robert was known for his sense of humor, love of his family, love of life, but most importantly his love for the Savior.

In late 2015 Robert suffered a stroke which deprived him of mobility on the left side of his body. He continued working as a healthcare provider until 2020. He spent the last 6 years of his life at home with his wife and children. He enjoyed family games, telling stories from his life, watching shows, and sending jokes to all his loved ones. His sense of humor and love for helping others never wavered.

Robert is survived by his wife of 35 years, Victoria Dawson; children (their spouses) Robert Jr. (Suzanne), Analisa Willis (Chris), Johnathan (Kaiya), Andrew (Isabelle), Jessica Johnson (Jet), Esther, Christine and Alexander; grandchildren Dakota, Alice, Avonlea, Liam and Roran; brothers Sterling and Michael; sisters Ceridwen and Margaret. He was preceded in death by his parents John Terence and Elsie; brothers John, Nathan and Richard and his sister Elizabeth.

A funeral service will be held on Friday May 15th at 11AM in the Holbrook, AZ Stake Center, 1127 Helen Ave. Viewing will begin at 9:30AM.
