Sherry Fae Flake Evans

Sherry Fae Flake Evans of Safford passed away on October 20, 2022. Sherry was born on July 4, 1935, to Silas Eugene and Lillian DeWitt Flake. She grew up in Snowflake, Arizona as the youngest of five children. Her family’s livelihood was cattle ranching and she loved working on the ranch alongside her father and brothers. She inherited her father’s love of the outdoors and was blessed with a charitable nature, a positive approach towards life and practical good sense. Her siblings Imogene, Glen, Ila Faun, and Sanford, all preceded her in death.

On April 2, 1956, Sherry married Rondo Harvey Evans in the Manti Utah Temple. Together they raised nine beautiful children; Ronda of Safford; Taz (Kathy) of Gilbert; Faun (Edwin) of North Logan; Dawn (Bruce) of Maricopa; Skyler (Wanda) of Safford, Jody (Matt) of Safford; Jordan of Safford, Scott (Rebecca) of Safford; Madison (Chanda) of Gilbert.  Together, Sherry and Rondo have 35 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Sherry loved her family and worked selflessly to provide the best life for them. Her sweetheart, Ronnie, left this earth in December of 1991. Sherry pressed on and continued to serve her family and friends for thirty-one years after his passing. She is remembered for many wonderful attributes including her kindness, compassion, sense of humor and especially for her love of family.

Funeral services for Sherry will be conducted Friday afternoon, October 28, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at the Safford Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop Lamont Whetten of the Safford Third Ward.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 28, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 12:45 p.m., at the Safford Stake Center Relief Society Room of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Sherry will be laid to rest Saturday afternoon, October 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at the R.V. Mike Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
