Steffen Guthrie Obituary

On June 15th, 2021, Steffen Christopher Guthrie checked out of this life where he had suffered with Chronic Liver Disease for the last eight years and walked into his Heavenly Knife Workshop complete with all the tools and equipment that he would need to do his work. He left behind 2 sisters Kendrah and Apryl, a brother Dylan and his mother Karen but his time on earth had ended and God took him home, sparing him of any further suffering or pain from this life.

Born July 17th, 1973, to Karen Johnson Myers and Lawrence Myers he was adopted by Bob and Karen (Myers) Guthrie in 1980 and spent most of his childhood in and around Danville, Illinois. It was there that he spent many happy hours riding bikes with his best friend “Mikey” Cravens.  Mikey preceded him in death in 1987.

He moved to Arizona in 1987 and finished his education/GED and gained an Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology. As time went on he found a special talent in Low Voltage work and after moving to Show Low in 2005 he worked for Wired on the Rim for many years. He loved music and enjoyed playing Rhythm guitar with his friends and brother and even managed to give his mother an appreciation for the Hard Metal Music of Metallica.  After his diagnosis of Cirrhosis in 2013 and he was no longer able to work he helped his mother as best he could and developed a love of Knife making, spending as many hours as he could designing knives for his family. Those he completed and even those he could not will be cherished.

He was preceded in death by his father Bob Guthrie in 2008. He also leaves behind his "best Beagle" Gracie who spent many hours just hanging out with him on his recliner in the evening; his first father Lawrence, 2 step brothers John and Jim, many nieces and nephews, a great nephew and many other friends and relatives too numerous to mention but all loved equally and dearly.

There will be a Celebration of Life for him on what would have been his 48th Birthday this July 17th at the home of his mother.  More details will be posted to his FB account once they are settled if anyone would like to attend. It will be an open Celebration/Tribute for this man who will be missed by so many. Heaven has gained a special soul.
