Ted William Smith

Ted William Smith was born on June 1, 1939, in Holbrook, Arizona, to Wilma and Bill Smith.

He passed away peacefully at his home on March 2, 2022, in Holbrook, Arizona.

Ted was born and raised in Holbrook.  He graduated from Holbrook High School and then attended College at ASU.

Ted met and married his wife, Christine, and they raised three beautiful daughters. Ted and Christine moved back to Holbrook, Arizona, in the early 60’s, where he took over running his father’s business, Bill’s Texaco Gas Station (Hatch’s Corner gas now).

In 1982, Ted married his second wife, Dorinda Smith, and they built their life together in Holbrook, Arizona. Ted worked as a Corrections Officer for DOC for 11 years. He was a member of the Holbrook Volunteer FD and the Elks Lodge for 40 plus years.

In 1981, Ted started his own business, Alternative Energy Systems. They sold solar panels, wood stoves, made keys and eventually settled in the glass business.  

Ted enjoyed hunting with his father and camping with his friends and family. He also loved to cook for his wife, Dorinda.  In 1983, Ted and Dorinda started to construct their own house, known as “the dome house” on the hill. Ted and Dorinda were married for 40 years.

Today, Ted would be well known for repairing glass around town or driving his white dodge truck, well below the speed limit.

Ted is survived by his spouse, Dorinda Smith; sister, Sylvia Nichols (Smith); children, Marni Smith, Victoria Smith, Shane O’Hair, Kerry O’Hair, Kevin O’Hair and Salli O’Hair;

grandchildren, Brittney and Sarah Megan Edwards, Davori Byrdsong, Samantha and Andrina Baldonado, Shanell and Armando Baldonado, Ashlynn Mackenzie (O’Hair) and Brennan O’Hair. Sarah Hines (O’Hair), Katriana, Madison, Natalie, Lillian and Temperance O’Hair, Shelby, Emily Runyan (Baldonado), and Eric Baldonado Jr., plus thirteen great grandchildren.

His proceeded in death by his daughter, Melanie Smith.

Celebration of life for Ted will be on Saturday March 12, 2022, at 2 PM at the Holbrook Elks Lodge, 714 Elkdom Ave.
