On September 10, 2022 Thomas “Brent” Rogers, age 68, passed away in his home surrounded by his family. Brent was born August 17, 1954 in McNary, Arizona to Stanley “Bass” Rogers and Charleene Hatch Rogers. He grew up mostly in Taylor and loved living in Arizona.
Brent was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life, going on a mission in California, serving in scouts and other callings, and living a life of service.
After a short but successful courtship, he married his sweetheart Virginia “Ginny” Jackson in the Mesa Arizona Temple in February 1977. He graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1981, followed by Northern Arizona University with bachelor and master degrees in Elementary Education. Brent worked as a school teacher for 28 years and as a mortician in the summers and weekends. Brent and Ginny had six children.
Brent loved the outdoors. As a child some of his fondest memories were spending summers at Woods Canyon Lake and fishing and camping with his cousins, dad, and grandpa. Throughout his life he loved taking his family camping, shooting, and getting wood. He dabbled in collecting stamp, coins, and guns, and enjoyed reading. He was kind, honest, genuine, and fun to be around.
Throughout his cancer treatments he rarely complained, showing strength and patience.
He loved spending time with family. He is survived by his wife Ginny, sister Marla, children Alec (Brecka), Kyla (Dustin), Kala (Ronnie), Alan (Carrie), Keely (Michael), and Kolette (Ryan). He has 15 grandchildren Vance, Owen, Maverick; Shelby, Kora, Duke; Jordyn, Brixton, Peyton, Lynden; Makellen, Kannin; Spencer, Dallin, and Riley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bass and Charleene Rogers, his in-laws Robert Jackson and Ruth Kathleen Hines, and his grandparents Andrew Locy and Rebecca Smith Rogers and Burt and Grace Campbell Hatch; along with many other cousins and loved ones.
His funeral will be held at Centennial LDS Chapel 880 N. Centennial Blvd Taylor, AZ 85939 at 1:00 PM, Saturday September 17, 2022.
