Thora Blanche Perkins passed away January 5, 2022. Thora was born in Snowflake, Arizona, in July 1939, to Woodrow and Blanche Petersen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Perkins, Jr.
Thora was a hardworking, feisty woman. In high school, she lettered in sewing and sewed her children’s clothes for many years. She took several art classes though college and became an accomplished painter. She also was an avid reader.
Thora and Ben taught their children to work. In the summer when they raised a garden, Thora’s motto was, you can do it when its hot or cold outside, but you are going to hoe weeds.
She served in several organizations in The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. She loved doing research for genealogy. She even went to Denmark where her ancestors were from. She was proud of her family and loved them all.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lorum, Sue Prestwich, Delores Padilla, Calvin, Carl, and Trudy Parsons; 24 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren (2 deceased) and four great, grandchildren.
A viewing will be on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Silver Creek Mortuary on Papermill in Taylor. The graveside service will be Friday, January 14, at 11 a.m. at the Perkins Family Cemetery, Clay Springs, Arizona.
