William Matthew "Matty" Drenth

William Matthew “Matty” Drenth was born on May 25, 1978 to Donald and Susan Drenth in Phoenix, Arizona. He spent a great deal of time with his younger sister, Dawn Drenth Lawrence, and cousins Lesley, Stacy, Emily and Shelby Goodwill and Sean Drenth. They often got into mischief and hot water. He spent many hours with his dad and his grandpas fishing.

Matt loved to fish, and that stayed with him forever. He moved to Lakeside, Arizona when he was in the second grade and attended Blue Ridge School District. He developed a love of sports, playing baseball, football, skiing and snowboarding. He discovered his love of cooking, attending a culinary program.

Matt had his first child with Dana Christiansen, Colyn Matthew Drenth, in 1999. He graduated from NAA and started cooking professionally, working at Charlie Clark's, Red Devil and The House, as well as many fine dining establishments.

Matt met Rebecca Mills in 2009. They went on to have a daughter, Davie Lynn Dawn Drenth, in 2010. Matt loved his kids tremendously. Matt passed away on May 31, 2023 in Vernon, Arizona.
